Inscriptions
Diyarbekir featured many inscriptions and carvings on its buildings and city walls. The carvings had a number of common motifs, such as lions, the tree of life, and bulls. In addition, there were numerous Arabic inscriptions from the Islamic period, many of them in Kufic and floriated Kufic scripts.
